Spring Garden

The garden is lush.
In a few short weeks it has shed its winter austerity and blossomed.

We are extraordinarily fortunate to have this space in the centre of London; the walls alone would make grown men weep. I heard a programme on Radio 4 about Wall Porn and the people who travel to see walls like ours and admire their patina; a palimpsest where the past leaks into our present.
With the long, tufty, spring grass, and the blossoming cherry tree, a little bit of the countryside lives in SE17.

What do you like most (or dislike) about the garden/car park space?

Sitting under the cherry tree when in blossom or even better when cherries ripe.

Great for alfresco eating in summer nights…
Getting the washing out on the line…
The bright flowers and the green green grass that has been newly sewn to make a much healthier lawn for 2014.
